It is amazing how much strategy and tactics every battle entails and that’s what makes Heroes of Timeline such a delicious challenge.
The physical components are also a real treat. It’s all very good quality.
I really enjoyed playing the game and trying out different factions. It’s all really quick to set up and a skirmish shouldn’t last much more than 30 minutes, making this an ideal game to play in between. It’s also a great introduction to the genre, scratching that same itch, without requiring you to learn lots of complicated rules and spend ages setting everything up.

Heroes of Timeline has carved out a special place in our gaming evenings. What often starts as “just one quick game” inevitably transforms into marathon sessions of tactical battles that keep us engaged until the early hours.
Like Chess, it’s completely deterministic – no dice, no cards, just pure strategy. Like Neuroshima Hex, positioning and facing are crucial. However, unlike either, Heroes of Timeline creates narrative moments that feel more like a tactical RPG than a pure strategy game.

The game is perfect for players seeking deep strategy and balanced asymmetry. With quick setup and tight 20–40 minute matches, it’s an intense duel that will leave you itching for a rematch.
What makes Heroes of Timeline stand out is its meticulous design:

🛡️ Unique hero bases with customizable armor tokens.
📜 16 gorgeously illustrated hero portraits, bringing the story to life.
⚔️ Innovative mechanics like Börd’s Punishment and reflex moves that keep the gameplay dynamic.

Heroes of Timeline is a game about tactics and seeing thru the strategic choices of your opponent.
The artwork is very good, fitting the theme and characters.
Heroes of Timeline is a great production with great gameplay and I can’t wait for a maps expansion!

Spaghetti and Meeples
This is definitely a game where the replayability comes in the desire to master each hero and their special abilities.
It takes foresight, planning, and flexibility in your defenses and reactions, and it’s rewarding when you figure out the nuances of each hero and how they interact.

Boardgames with Joe
Overall, Heroes of Timeline is a deeply strategic game with quite a good amount of replay value and great production. The characters are fun to experiment with and it has zero luck! No bad dice throws and everything is based on how well you can plan and adapt. A few extra terrain elements or maybe event cards could help spice the game up, but I enjoyed my time with it.

Punchable Games
At first, this might seem like the shortest and simplest game, but I can definitely see it growing and growing with each play. It’s also one of those games that kept rummaging in my head after I had put it away - and that is a very good thing in my book. Other than that, it looks absolutely gorgeous and the components are of a high quality. It’s also a breeze to setup and teach, so if you get a regular game partner who likes strategizing as much as you, I would definitely recommend you check Heroes of Timeline out!
