Why we created Heroes of Timeline

We are really passionate about board games. And managed to channel this passion into an idea of a board game we'd love to play.

This picture caught the moment the Heroes of Timeline idea was born. A friend of mine was visiting, and we decided to play another game. It took us few hours to learn the rules. Then another few hours to realize we are just competing at throwing dice. We didn't finish that game.

But I already knew what kind of the game I would want to make:

Easy to learn, hard to master. It should be explainable in 15-20 minutes, but it has to be interesting even if you play it for years.
No randomness. Dice throws and card picks should not decide who wins this game. You should know everything your opponent can do, and vice versa.
Rich story. Each team and each Hero have to be unique and have different playstyles. And for this, they should all have an interesting story and motivation.

These core principles ultimately became the Heroes of Timeline.

Hi there! I'm Alik, I wrote the story, came up with the gameplay, and even published the Heroes of Timeline.

Honestly, I am still not sure how all that happened. My theory is that I really love board games, and at some point a critical amount of love and experience for board games accumulated within me. And this resulted in an explosion of creativity, that ultimately became a board game.

I always knew what I liked (and disliked) about the games I played, and I was always looking for that one game. Heroes of Timeline is the game I always wanted to play. So much so I had to create it.

This project came into my hands at a rather difficult time, seemingly to breathe new life into my existence as an artist.

The game has characters you want to love, a universe you want to learn more about, and a well-developed lore — these are the things that captivate me as a fan of fantasy worlds. I have always had a weakness for multifaceted works that allow you to explore everything from deserts to ancient Asia, so contributing to something so grand was not only easy but always interesting. You’ve probably heard how much we, as artists, depend on our muse, so the fact that I had no issues with mine during the work on Heroes of Timeline is really telling.

I love Reiko, Ballista, Greg(?), and the others like my own children, so I’m sure this game will give you the opportunity to love them together with me! All it takes is a little time and patience :)
